Why join us?
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), in collaboration with the People-Centered Internet (PCI) as co-founded by Vint Cerf, presents this celebration of the first 50 years of the Internet. The program will be livecast worldwide by IEEE.tv.
We aim to inspire the next generation of creators-the engineers of the world who will do the next extraordinary things-to grasp the impact that engineering can really have to make a better world. We must deliberately and consciously harness technology's near-infinite potential to engage the cultures and the minds of the world.
By livecasting this program, we will bring together many of IEEE's 429,000 members in 190 countries and internauts everywhere to hear from both political and technical leaders, to deepen the understanding of global engineering leaders about the opportunities ahead, as well as the challenges the last 50 years have brought us. It will feature global leaders who both benefit from and wrestle with the Internet.
As we enter the daunting age of AI, a big task for the future will be applying this tool effectively in, and through digital public infrastructure to shape a people-centered digital ecosystem. Many historic tasks are likely to become vastly easier as a new generation of infrastructure emerges that truly takes advantage of our collective capabilities.
For a People Centered Digital Future, global engagement and participation is necessary
This May 19th program will bring together many of the IEEE's 460,000 members in 190 countries, with political and technical leaders drawn from every corner of the globe to deepen the understanding of global engineering leaders of the opportunities and challenges that the last 50 years brought us and future opportunities. The event will highlight and celebrate the Internet we know today. It will then feature stories from global leaders who both benefit from and struggle with the current Internet to better understand ways the private and public sectors can collaborate and invest in applying AI in digital public infrastructure,
Mark your calendar May 19 1-6 pm Pacific time. Join your fellow IEEE members either live at Stanford, or gather live at your local chapter or society so you can experience together the largest ever hybrid global gathering of engineers which will be broadcast by IEEE TV.
You can expect to get more information by email in weeks ahead: 1 month before, then each week before with program details.
